Unica Announces the Appointment of Kevin Shone as Chief Financial Officer

WALTHAM, Mass. – October 7, 2008 – Unica Corporation (Nasdaq: UNCA), a leading global provider of enterprise marketing management (EMM) solutions, today announced the appointment of Kevin Shone as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.  Shone, who will lead Unica’s global finance and administrative team, brings more than 15 years of senior finance, administration and legal experience, with an emphasis on global business management for growth-stage companies.

Shone most recently served as Vice President, Global Field Finance and Administration at Cognos, Inc. (an IBM company).  During his tenure at Cognos, Shone played a significant role in supporting the company’s growth, as annual revenues increased from approximately $245 million to more than $1 billion.  As the CFO for Cognos’ global field operations, he was responsible for managing a team of over 270 individuals and led pre- and post-merger integration initiatives.  Previously, Shone served as Cognos’ Senior Corporate Counsel and later as Vice President of Finance and Administration for the Americas Operations.
